Keep Outdoor Units Clear
Maintain at least 2 feet of clear space around outdoor condenser and heat pump units, keeping them free of grass trimmings, tall weeds, and shrubs to ensure open airflow.
Keep Vents Unblocked
Avoid covering supply vents or return grilles with heavy furniture, drapes, or rugs, which restricts airflow and strain your blower motor.
Set Sensible Thermostat Schedules
Avoid drastic temperature swings of 8°–10° between thermostat settings; steady temperatures prevent your system from running continuously under heavy loads.
Maintain Air Movement on Vacation
When traveling, never turn your system completely off. Set your thermostat higher in the summer to keep air circulating against humidity, and maintain at least 55°F in the winter to prevent frozen pipes.
